What the Mobile App Tracks and What It Doesn't
The mobile app is built for time tracking and field work management. It includes time tracking on projects and tasks, break tracking with history and policy limits, task creation and editing, and GPS location tracking.
The mobile app does not capture screenshots, app or website usage, activity levels, or keyboard/mouse input. These monitoring features are available through the WebWork Desktop Tracker.
Go to Desktop Time TrackerHow does GPS time tracking work on the mobile app?
When an employee starts the mobile timer, WebWork records their GPS coordinates at regular intervals. You can view live locations and route history on a map in the web dashboard. GPS data is only captured while the timer is actively running.
Can employees edit their time entries on the mobile app?
Yes. Employees can add new time entries, edit existing ones, and delete incorrect entries directly from the app. This is useful for field workers who may need to adjust entries after client visits or shift changes.
Does the mobile time tracker take screenshots?
No. The mobile app tracks time, GPS location, projects, tasks, and breaks. Screenshots, app and website monitoring, and activity level tracking are only available through the WebWork Desktop Tracker.
Can I track breaks on the mobile app?
Yes. Employees can start and end breaks from the app. The app displays their break history and the configured limits for each break type, so they can see how much break time they have remaining.
Is the mobile time clock app free?
WebWork offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. After the trial, mobile time tracking is included in all plans starting at $3.99 per user per month.
Does mobile time tracking sync with the desktop tracker?
Yes. All WebWork trackers — desktop, mobile, web, and Chrome extension — sync in real time. Hours tracked on mobile appear in the same reports and timesheets as hours tracked on any other platform.
What permissions does the mobile time tracking app need?
The app requests location permissions for GPS tracking. Location data is only recorded while the work timer is running. Employees can review what data is being tracked at any time.
Can managers see tracked hours by project from mobile time tracking?
Yes. All time tracked via the mobile app is tagged to the project and task the employee selected. You can view project-level time reports and breakdowns in the web dashboard.
