Benefits of Web Time Tracking with WebWork
No need to download
With the Web Time Tracker, you track time without downloading any software. Open your browser, sign in, and start tracking — it works on any device with a web browser including Chromebooks, shared computers, and tablets. Perfect for teams where installing desktop apps isn't an option.
Focus on work
Turn on the Web Time Tracker and let it do the tracking. The timer runs quietly in the background while your team works — no pop-ups, no interruptions. Unlike desktop trackers that take screenshots or monitor apps, the web tracker stays invisible so employees can focus entirely on their tasks.
Keep track of tasks
Select the project and task and hit the start button. The Web Time Tracker records exactly how long each task takes, so you can see where your team's hours go. Switch between tasks with one click — all time entries appear in your timesheets and project reports automatically.
How to start using the Web Time Tracker?
Permission
The workspace owner should first activate web time tracking from Settings > Features > Web Time Tracking.

Two Things to Keep in Mind
The Web Time Tracker only tracks time. It does not take screenshots and does not measure productivity. To track more than time, get the Desktop Time Tracker.
If you close the tab of the Web Time Tracker, it will still continue tracking for 8 hours. After that period, it will stop automatically.

Can I track time on the same project with both Web and Desktop Time Trackers?
You can track time on the same project with all time trackers but not at the same time. For example, if you are tracking time with the Desktop Time Tracker, you should turn it off first and only then start tracking on the Web Time Tracker. All trackers sync your data to one dashboard.
Why can’t I see productivity data and screenshots on the Web Time Tracker?
The Web Time Tracker only tracks time. It does not measure productivity, monitor apps or websites, and does not take screenshots. If you need those features, use the Desktop Time Tracker instead — it offers full employee monitoring alongside time tracking.
I can’t find the web time tracking option on my dashboard. How do I enable it?
To use the Web Time Tracker, your workspace owner needs to activate it in workspace settings: go to Settings > Features > Web Time Tracker and toggle it on. Once enabled, all team members can start tracking from the browser.
What is a web time tracker and how is it different from a desktop time tracker?
A web time tracker runs in your browser — you sign in to your dashboard and start tracking. No software to install. A desktop time tracker is an app you download to your computer that tracks time plus screenshots, app usage, and productivity. Choose web tracking when you just need hours logged; choose desktop when you need full monitoring.
Does the web time tracker work on mobile phones and tablets?
Yes, the web time tracker works on any device with a modern web browser — including phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. However, for mobile-specific features like GPS tracking and break management, we recommend the dedicated WebWork mobile app for iPhone and Android.
What happens if I close the browser tab while tracking?
If you close the tab, the Web Time Tracker continues tracking for up to 8 hours. After that, it stops automatically. Your tracked time is saved and visible in your reports. To stop tracking sooner, sign back in and click the stop button.
Is the web time tracker free?
WebWork offers a free 14-day trial that includes all trackers — web, desktop, mobile, and Chrome extension. After the trial, web time tracking is included in all paid plans starting from $3.99 per user per month.
Can my team use different trackers at the same time?
Yes. Different team members can use different trackers based on their needs — some on desktop, some on web, some on mobile. All data syncs to one dashboard. The only rule is that one person cannot run two trackers simultaneously.
