Attendance issues can create problems for managers, especially when payroll is due. Without reliable records, it can be difficult to identify late arrivals, early departures, working hours, and approved leave. Attendance tracking software helps teams record this information and review it in one place.

In the US, the Department of Labor expects employers to keep records of hours worked each day and each week for non-exempt staff. Spreadsheets and paper sheets make that hard. Attendance software automates the process and highlights any issues on the same day they occur.

This buying guide compares seven attendance solutions: WebWork, Jibble, Clockify, Connecteam, Deputy, TimeCamp, and Time Doctor. For each tool, we cover pricing, attendance features, limitations, and the teams it suits. We feature WebWork first and discuss its limitations as well.

The prices were updated in October 2026. Since vendors update their pricing frequently, please review the pricing pages before purchasing.

What to Look For in Attendance Tracking Software

Feature lists look alike. These six checks show which tools save time and which add admin.

  • Clock-in options. Desktop, mobile, web or a shared kiosk. On-site teams often need the kiosk. Remote teams need desktop and mobile.
  • Late and absence alerts. You want to see a late start the same day, not at month end.
  • Shifts and schedules. The tool should compare actual hours with the planned shift.
  • Leave and holidays. Approved time off must feed the report, or absences look like no-shows.
  • Reports and payroll export. Look for CSV, XLSX or PDF exports your payroll team can use.
  • Pricing model. Some tools charge per user, some per location, some a flat fee. Check which plan holds the features you need.

1. WebWork

WebWork

WebWork is attendance tracking software for remote, hybrid, and office-based teams. It tracks attendance and working hours, helps managers identify late arrivals and early departures, and provides reports on employee attendance. Teams can also use WebWork to monitor activity levels and review tracked hours alongside attendance data. In 2026 it was named to the Capterra Shortlist and Software Advice Front Runners for attendance tracking, as covered on our blog.

Price. WebWork offers three paid plans. Pro costs $3.99 per user per month with annual billing or $4.99 with monthly billing. Plus costs $6.39 per user per month annually or $7.99 monthly. Premium costs $7.19 per user per month annually or $8.99 monthly. All plans include a 14-day free trial, with no credit card required. WebWork does not offer a permanent free plan. Prices checked October 2026.

Attendance features. WebWork’s attendance features include:

  • Attendance monitoring for presence, absence, and working hours
  • Late-arrival and early-departure monitoring
  • Work schedules can be configured on Pro, while shift scheduling is available on Plus and Premium.
  • Leave requests, PTO, and holiday management
  • Break tracking
  • Attendance reports with start times, end times, tracked hours, and attendance deviations
  • Exportable reports in CSV, XLSX, or PDF formats.

Limits to know. WebWork Pro includes one active integration at a time, while Plus and Premium support unlimited active integrations. Shift scheduling and geofencing are available on Plus and Premium. Payroll is included in Plus and Premium. Pro users can add Payments & Payroll for $1.50 per user per month.

Best for. Teams that want to manage attendance, track working hours, review activity data, and generate reports in one platform, including remote, hybrid, and office-based teams.

2. Jibble

Jibble

Jibble leads with its free plan. That plan covers unlimited users, with GPS clock-in from mobile or a shared kiosk, face recognition and PIN verification, two geofences and automated timesheets.

Price. Free, then Premium at $4.49 and Ultimate at $7.99 per user per month on annual billing (prices checked October 2026). Jibble also uses regional pricing in some countries, so your quote may differ.

Attendance features. Premium adds unlimited geofences, unlimited work schedules and kiosks, leave accruals, custom break and overtime rules and multi-level approvals. Ultimate adds live location tracking and an attendance insights report.

Limits to know. Jibble exports hours to payroll tools. It does not run payroll itself. Free plan limits, such as one work schedule and one kiosk, show up fast as you grow.

Best for. Small teams and startups that want free attendance with identity checks. If you are weighing it against WebWork, see our Jibble comparison.

3. Clockify

Clockify

Clockify is known as a time tracker, and attendance reporting sits in its mid-priced tiers.

Price. The free plan covers up to 5 users. Paid plans per seat per month on annual billing are Basic $3.99, Standard $5.49, Pro $7.99 and Enterprise $11.99. Monthly billing is $4.99, $6.99, $9.99 and $14.99 (prices checked October 2026).

Attendance features. Kiosk clock-in with PINs and break tracking start on Basic. The attendance and overtime report, time off and reminder emails start on Standard. That report shows daily start and end times, breaks, overtime and time off in one view. Pro adds scheduling, GPS tracking and screenshots.

Limits to know. Basic has no attendance report, so the real entry price for attendance is $5.49. The free plan stops at 5 users. If you want to compare it with WebWork, see our Clockify comparison.

Best for. Teams that already track project time and want an attendance report on top.

4. Connecteam

Connecteam

Connecteam is built around mobile work for deskless and field teams. Its pricing is unusual. Each hub is priced on its own, and attendance sits in the Operations hub.

Price. Connecteam offers a free plan for up to 10 users. For the Operations hub, Basic costs $29 per month with annual billing ($35 with monthly billing) for the first 30 users. Advanced costs $49 per month with annual billing ($59 monthly), while Expert costs $99 per month with annual billing ($119 monthly). Additional users may incur extra charges. Prices checked October 2026.

Attendance features. The time clock supports GPS clock-in and clock-out from Basic. Higher tiers add more geofencing options.

Limits to know. Communications and HR run as separate hubs with their own bills. Three hubs on Basic come to $87 per month for 30 users, not $29.

Best for. Field, retail and service teams of up to about 30 people who work from phones.

5. Deputy

DEPUTY

Deputy is a scheduling-first tool. Attendance comes as part of rosters, timesheets and labor rules.

Price. Deputy lists Lite at $5, Core at $6.50 and Pro at $9 per user per month, and says annual plans save 10%. Monthly plans have a minimum spend of $30 per invoice. Payroll through Paycor is an add-on at $8 per user plus a $49 monthly base fee, and is available on annual Core and Pro plans in the US (prices checked October 2026).

Attendance features. Lite covers time clocking, shift swaps, leave and availability and labor law compliance. Core adds biometric clocking on a kiosk, timesheet auto-approval, auto-scheduling and demand forecasting. Pro adds single sign-on and 24/7 live chat.

Limits to know. Every user counts toward the bill, including admins and supervisors. Add-ons such as HR at $2 and Messaging+ at $1.95 per user raise the total.

Best for. Hourly teams in retail, hospitality and healthcare, where building the roster is the main job.

6. TimeCamp

Timecamp

TimeCamp combines automatic time tracking with attendance records, timesheets and time-off management. It can suit teams that want to monitor working hours and manage attendance without paying per location.

Price. TimeCamp offers a free plan for unlimited users. Starter costs $3.99 per user per month with annual billing ($5.49 monthly). Premium costs $6.99 per user per month with annual billing ($9.99 monthly), while Ultimate costs $9.99 per user per month with annual billing ($13.99 monthly). Enterprise pricing is available on request. Prices checked October 2026.

Attendance features. Starter includes attendance tracking, attendance reports, time-off management, overtime tracking and Excel report exports. Premium adds app and website tracking, activity tracking and additional reporting features. The Enterprise plan includes a time clock kiosk and geofencing.

Limits to know. The free plan does not include attendance tracking, which starts on Starter. Screenshots and timesheet approvals are available on Ultimate and Enterprise, while geofencing and the time-clock kiosk are listed under Enterprise. Check the current plan comparison before subscribing.

Best for. Teams that need automatic time tracking, attendance records and time-off management, especially when they want a free plan for unlimited users or need more detailed reporting as they grow.

7. Time Doctor

Time Doctor

Time Doctor focuses on productivity data. Attendance is part of that package, but only on the middle plan and above.

Attendance features. Attendance tracking, break and leave tracking, schedules and time approvals start on Standard. Basic has none of them.

Limits to know. Data history is 3 months on Basic, 6 months on Standard and 2 years on Premium. Time Doctor has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit, which matters if your IT team asks for one.

Best for. Teams that want detailed activity analytics and can pay for them.

FAQ About Attendance Tracking Software

What is the best attendance tracking software?

The best attendance tracking software depends on your team’s needs. WebWork is an option for remote, hybrid, and office-based teams that want attendance monitoring, working-hour records, and activity reports in one platform. TimeCamp may suit teams that need time tracking and attendance reports, while Jibble offers a free plan for teams with a limited budget.

How much does attendance tracking software cost?

Attendance tracking software prices vary by provider, plan, team size, and billing period. WebWork’s annual-billing prices start at $3.99 per user per month for Pro, $6.39 for Plus, and $7.19 for Premium. Some alternatives offer free plans or charge per location instead of per user. Check each provider’s current pricing page before choosing a plan.

Can attendance software track remote and hybrid teams?

Yes, if it tracks clock-ins via desktop and mobile applications. WebWork identifies who is currently at work, highlights late arrivals and early departures, distinguishes between being in-office or remote, and compares actual vs. planned hours.

How do you stop buddy punching?

Use identity checks at clock-in. Jibble offers face recognition and Deputy offers biometric kiosks on Core. WebWork’s shared kiosk supports personal PINs to help prevent buddy punching. Managers can also review activity data and screenshots during tracked work sessions, where these features are enabled.

Conclusion: Choose the Tool That Your Team Will Use

Check the following before signing anything. What is the plan that offers all the features you want? What is the rate at which price increases based on the number of people? Is the payroll export clear?

The best way to evaluate the service is to try a trial. Assign five of your staff members to a two-week trial period and compare the lateness notifications, leave balances, and reports used by your payroll department. Actual numbers are better than any chart, including ours.

Want to see how it works for your team? Start a 14-day free trial of WebWork. All features are included, and no credit card is needed. For setup help, read our guide on how to get started with WebWork.
